The cast is stacked, we get to see Ronald Reagan punched in the face, we've got a couple of hit men that look like older and younger bookends to Le Samourai, Angie Dickinson doing Angie Dickinson bombshell stuff, a car racing subplot, a robbery caper, and John Cassavettes running from the leader of the crew he screwed over. It's all quite farfetched but really, really fun. They don't make 'em like this anymore. See more helder f @uniquecliches Jan 19, 2025 The story is good, with enough twists and surprises. Two hit men find it surprising that their victim didn’t run away when he saw them coming to kill him. They then embark on a journey to try to find peoplewho can tell them more about this man visiting a few people in different cities. In each city, they coerce someone to tell them more about the man. But the cast is interesting, with a young Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, Ronald Reagan and Surprised to see John Cassavetes for the first time. This version of the Hemingway short story doesn't hang together as well as the original, but my favorite character is Lee, the sidekick. Also, doesn't stand up to the test of time, with all the physical violence (Angie Dickinson's character is slapped not once, but twice, hard!) See more Scott M @RT75128960 May 15, 2024 Don Siegel before he had the freedom to direct the way he wanted made a few terrible films. This is one of them. The music is so God-awful 1960's Batman and Robin that I wanted to watch it with the sound off. The set peices are straight out of cookie cutter Hollywood sets. The acting by Dickinson, Marvin and Casavettes is good. Reagan is his usual wooden statue of a man. Even Tarantino says this was made like a TV show.
