Megan B 02/15/2024 I liked the meditation on love and life See more Ron M @RT04144168 20h A Ghost Story is stylistically a 5-star film, lots of long holds, static frames, and locked camera. Think Glazer (The Zone of Interest) and Eggers (The Witch). AGS would have earned a full 5 from me if the story hadn't veered away from its core premise if only momentarily. The shift moved my focus just enough to push an eyebrow gently towards the heavens of an otherwise wonderful story and film. See more B N. @Kabeju Feb 23 Hmmm you can’t go wrong with Casey Affleck , however you either get the artsy part and deep message of this or you will be restless and fast fwd parts. There’s some very long scenes of nothing , almost like watching a photo. I got the concept and was good but didn’t find the connection or the purpose of many characters. Good picture , love Affleck , very slow , depressing, uncomfortable with good visuals and good ending. See more Jack F @MovieFan111 Feb 6 I hated the slowness it started with, but I guess it grew on me as it progressed. I think it's cool that so much time passes in such a short movie. The movie itself feels much longer than 1 hr 30. Powerful ending. It would take a lot to make me cry during a movie, and I have cried at only a rare couple. This one didn't make me cry, but I can see how it would for many people. Maybe if I watched it again. See more Mark H @RT45667637 Nov 27 I think you can make the argument that A Ghost Story is as much about life, death, human experience, time and whether there is an afterlife as anything else. It’s certainly not a horror movie, and was never intended to be. It’s a meditation on love, how fleeting and temporary our experiences are, and what it might look like if you couldn’t ever let that go even after you died. This is possibly one of the saddest movies many viewers will ever see. A young couple, very much in love, lose each other due to a car accident. "C" dies, leaving "M" alone in the house they shared. C watches her, tries to touch her and comfort her. But C is no longer part of the physical world. He’s an observer, stuck in that space, for however long it takes for him to move on. M moves away. New people move in. Decades go by. The house decays, and is demolished. A high rise building is erected in that space. C lingers. This is an almost silent film about love, loss, time, and letting go.
