Its greatest strength lies in the depth of its simple message and in how successfully it invites empathy, especially through the genuinely moving relationship between father and son. However, some narrative gaps remain: Mary’s parents are oddly absent, and their role in her life is never really defined. The psychological depth of Kit Kat’s storyline also feels underdeveloped and somewhat unresolved. Finally, family life between Mary and Tim appears almost frictionless, lacking the sense of real difficulty that might have added further weight to the story.
