Troy R @Grim16 Aug 21 Interesting political context if not a bit unrealistic at times. Production/acting was pretty good and a big highlight of the movie, kept the first 40 minutes intense and interesting as the beautiful camera work swept around the chaos. The ending/story were kind of a mess and was hard to relate to the individuals in the film. Characters were not convincing in their motivations, the last 20 minutes is a bunch of crazy flip flopping and then it ends... unceremoniously. See more Voice O @VoiceOver Jul 28 The best thing about the movie was Dali Bensalah who gave a great and convincing performance. The plot is very weak and unconvincing; the writers could have learned a thing or two from La Haine, which treated a similar topic way more convincing. Two major plot lines ruined this movie: it makes the police's actions legitimized by having a terrorist at the site who could potentially bring this to the next level. The unrealistic escalation between Karim and Abdel felt forced and a very unsubtle plot device to make the story move into a different direction. The reveal at the very end of the movie felt forced as well and again whitewashed the police's actions. The photography of the movie was excellent. The music was annoying and distracting at times trying too much to wrench emotion out of the viewer that the events on screen failed to do. Again, watch La Haine and see how it's done. See more Chris B @RT75211519 Jun 25 Unlike other reviews I can actually see the meaning of this film. I can feel the tension between average people and brutal police. It conveys corruption within the police force against minorities, which is a huge problem within France. It shows brothers who are all trying to deal with the grief of losing their younger brother to brutal police violence. Whilst the film is very action based and doesn’t show too much into the backstory anyone with a brain would be able to understand what it’s about. The film is filled with screaming and violent scenes, but its plot is unconvincing, underdeveloped, and ultimately unfair. What’s more troubling is how it perpetuates harmful stereotypes, portraying Muslims as violent, ignorant, or involved in drugs. This is far from the truth. Yes, in the Middle East, and particularly in Lebanon, we have riots and revolutions. But these are not senseless acts of destruction—they are born out of desperation, a fight for basic human rights like food, education, and healthcare. The struggles we face under corrupt governments and systemic failures push us to demand the bare minimum for survival, not to wreak chaos for no reason, as depicted in the movie. The film fails to reflect the depth of our struggles or the humanity behind our actions. Instead, it sensationalizes and misrepresents, leaving a frustratingly shallow and biased narrative.
