Megan L @dotdotswirl Jul 14 It’s a great story, and highlights the culture of black Americans at that point in time. I’ve probably seen this 100 times at minimum. Also, I’m impressed with TI’s performance considering this is his first role. 10/10. Not too much profanity either, with the subject matter it’s appropriate for 13 year olds and older. A must see southern black ATL scores low on RT cause it’s an African American movie. Full stop. Just a typical upbringing movie about living in the hood and trying to figure out what to do after high school. Going to Cascade ice rink every Sunday night man I wish I could have friends like Rashad did. I don’t live in the south by the way, but you know where I’m getting at. I can’t complain TIP Harris did a phenomenal job acting same with Keith David and the rest of the cast. I may be a mid 30s millennial, but the soundtrack for this movie is fire. It deserve a higher rating than 6.2.(based off of IMDb), not to mention I feel like it doesn’t get enough love(the movie). TI is a great actor and of course rapper(one of my all-time favorites, even though I live in the north). Not much else to say about this movie since I don’t want to spoil it, but I recommend watching this, especially if you living in the hood or used to. Never a dull with this movie, we need more movies like this that are realistic(don’t worry Friday movies still are). This flick was a big part of my era growing up — it just hits different with those real-life vibes about friends, family, and figuring out your future. The skating rink scenes and Atlanta energy bring back memories every time, and I love the lessons on loyalty and chasing dreams. Solid 8/10 for me — a true classic that still feels fresh. The movie brought back lots of emotions and memories. It wasn't intense, no award winner but felt like a home movie of a great time in life. I grew up in Scottdale GA ITP inside the perimeter for those not from the A. Anyway, Tip is always Tip. Mr. Harris is Decatur. Big Boi, Killer Mike the list goes on and on.
