I am 40 years old so I have spent my entire life with Eddie Murphy in the limelight. I found it fun and nostalgic to walk down memory lane with him and was especially intrigued by his thoughtful, peaceful, and unbothered personality. However, it's definitely not the most interesting biographical documentary that I have seen and the clips from other comedians like Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Dave Chapelle that were interspersed throughout didn't add any insight or depth to the topic at hand. I'm not mad I watched it, but if you aren't already an Eddie Murphy fan or have some sort of context for the era/people discussed then you might not find it too entertaining.

A documentary portrait that insightfully deepens the subject, in which case Eddie Murphy being himself casually heartens natural laughs – some in reminiscence – and provokes resonance in good spirit. Most of the presented topics are mere celebratory structurally polished with agreeably moderate depth solely amid the in-between reflective perception as the best highlights besides the fascinatingly honest charisma. For anyone who simply enjoy his films with retained respect over the turkeys, this is a documentary delivered in pleasing appeal. (A-)

I guess I can find a worse way to spend time than watching Eddie Murphy talk about his life and his amazing accomplishments. I didn't mind that so much. But having to stomach a z10/pro-g-Cide like Jerry Seinfeld more than once was pretty unbearable. Netflix should have thought that guest speaker through a lot more carefully.
