andrea c @Charst Oct 17 L'ultima opera con Robin Williams purtroppo, nonostante la solita grande performance dell'attore, non verrà ricordata come fortunata per il risultato di questo dramma che gira praticamente tutto intorno al protagonista, e del suo bizzarro comportamento alla ricerca della sua vera natura sessuale. Il contesto è costruito bene e il film è delicato nel girare intorno al suo tenero protagonista, risultando però ripetitivo in questa serie di comportamenti da perfetto gentiluomo con un giovane ragazzo di strada, che invece diventano un ingiustificato e poco credibile assenteismo all'interno della dimora. Il risultato è un film che fatica a stare in piedi e che per il pubblico a cui si vorrebbe rivolgere, manca di personalità e di credibilità in alcuni piccoli passaggi che lo rendono un po' insipido. See more M Apr 18 A masterpiece! Sadly few will ever understand it, as the ratings show. Maybe only the ones who have lived it, the very few. The price of everything, is absolutely everything. The fire is so quiet that nobody really hears it and so hot that most turn and pull away. What a phenomenal bookend to a phenomenal life. Clearly Robin got it. The synopsis said it was the last screen appearance by Robin Williams, so I figured it was worth checking out just to see his final performance. Sadly, Williams didn't go out with a bang. This is a very quiet, subtle film, which is fine, but its quietness and subtlety are so extreme as to make the whole enterprise virtually nonexistent. Except for a scene toward the end with the always wonderful Baker, there is no energy or passion. True, the protagonist here is a man beaten down and stifled, but William seems to create a series of mannerisms rather than a fully fleshed out character. His scenes with Aguirre, which constitute a majority of the movie, do not feel rooted in reality but rather the conceit of a screenwriter. Williams had some fine dramatic work throughout his career, and while I commend him for taking on a role quite unlike anything he had done before, the result will not go down as one of his most memorable films or performances. See more isla s 09/03/2022 This is very much a film about loneliness, secrets and perhaps self reflection, or introspection. I watched it as it stars Robin Williams and I hadn't seen it before - I enjoy most of the films he's made, especially in the last 10-20 years of his life. This is very much a film with him as the man, husband walking around with inner turmoil, somewhat unsure what to say or what to offer. I felt like I could imagine the frustration and upset the main character, Nolan, felt - Robin was very facially expressive and this is, of course, the case in this film.
