09/24/2015 As this is a black and white film you have to accept the title for what it says, of course it represents more than just the colour of the water - this is an uplifting tale of discovery. The story itself is not overly interesting, but the style certainly is. At times this is a silent film, at other points it is a musical, all underpinning the romance which perhaps sadly has a too idealistic conclusion. See more 09/28/2012 A good attempt but struggles against the twin problems of technical limitations and Soviet dogma which was in full swing by the time this was made.
