Maja K @Slobodan01 Mar 6 I kept waiting for something to happen in this film… but nothing ever really does. The pacing is extremely slow, and the story never seems to build toward anything meaningful. For a vampire film inspired by Carmilla, the atmosphere is there, but the substance is missing. The characters feel distant, the plot barely moves, and the supposed tension never truly arrives. By the end, it feels less like a mysterious gothic story and more like two hours of waiting for a moment that never comes. Maybe I’m missing something, but to me it was simply frustrating and dull. If you expect an engaging vampire story, you might be disappointed. Apparently many professional reviewers fall in the category. 23 minutes is all I could tolerate. Ultimately, it muddles the overall theme, making it a questionable study of prejudice and intolerance. See more 11/22/2020 The way th is movie is riding the genre tropes and it is visual allusions to Coppola's Bram Stalker's dracula and True Blood and the generic period drama to get us to the conclusion is really really good.
