It’s phenomenally laced with the frightening aspects of reality. *content warnings advised * Ron Perlman, with an easy listening voice , adds comfort to emotional charge that can follow watching this type of stimulus. If you are a crier, not me … but some people are 👀, just kidding …DEF me, you will need to be prepared for that. The way Theo Rossi adapts to any role he plays … The skill is … insane . I had chills the entire second half of the movie. The humans behind the roles did a convincing job at delivering the message. I love that they used mature actors/ actresses. ALL very natural, and committed to the characters. It was easy to watch and stay engaged. This is a slow burn. If you want a movie that will make you think and ask questions, this is the movie for you. It is in my opinion deliberately slow. It involves a shock jock (Ron Perlman, slumming in a small part) and a grunt working in a machine shop in the midwest. A general air of despair permeates everything, with guns, social unrest, distrust of the government - all presented without any in-depth point of view. The labored storytelling is propelled by the main guy's disillusionment with everything. And then, of course, the finale brings out the guns. Don't bother. It's slow as molasses in January.
