James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) is captured by North Korean agents and must serve a grueling prison sentence. He's finally released, and is convinced that someone in his own agency betrayed him. He escapes from custody and travels to Cuba, hot on the heels of Zao (Rick Yune), the agent who put Bond behind bars. Meanwhile, Bond begins romancing NSA agent Jinx (Halle Berry) as he uncovers a scheme concocted by Zao and British millionaire Graves (Toby Stephens), involving a highly destructive laser.

The over-reliance on epic CGI effects results in a few chinks in the spectacle (the tidal wave looks like a video game effect), but the thrill-topping succession of death-defying disasters and unbelievable battles... just don’t stop coming.

It really doesn't matter how Lee Tamahori directed the film or what Neal Purvis and Robert Wade did with their script because Die Another Day was screwed from the moment that The Bourne Identity opened in theaters.

I’ve always been a big fan of Pierce Brosnan and his run as 007, but even I struggle to defend Die Another Day, which has become the Nickelback of Bond films: the perpetual punching bag that people will likely lambast even if they haven’t seen it. Light on coherence, scientific accuracy and common sense, with a script that’s painfully on the nose and stuffed with forced puns and action scenes that lean way more on CGI than the series ever had, and bad CGI at that. Brosnan gives it his all as usual, and Halle Berry makes a great counterpart for him, but with a villain’s plan so convoluted its really hard to grasp the stakes, and while the action might be fun, the aforementioned dodgy effects just make them feel cheap and unimpactful. Like Moore with A View To A Kill, Brosnan departed the series after his weakest entry. Retrospection has been kinder to him, a grace most certainly not afforded to Die Another Day.

I know this movie isn't everyone's favorite, but I really enjoyed it. Pierce Brosnan was great as Bond, and the action kept me interested from start to finish. The movie is full of exciting moments, cool gadgets, and it never feels boring. Some parts are a bit over the top, and the CGI doesn't look great today, but that didn't stop me from having fun. I watched it to be entertained, and it did exactly that. It's not a perfect Bond movie, but it's one I will happily watch again.

Pierce Brosnan never disappoints as 007. I enjoyed the action sequences, and the storyline.. I don’t understand why so many people hate on this movie as it was very entertaining
