Timothy H @RT29959469 Mar 26 I first watched this movie about 15 years ago and the parallels with apartheid in South Africa were obvious. However, I just watched it again and can see so much similarity to what the Jews are doing to the Palestinians in Israel. This movie is still as disturbing and relevant today as when it was first released. The camerawork however felt pretty experimental and was very jarring at times. --- (Storyline/Plot: 3.5/5) I like the journalistic background that plays throughout, the movie leaves you with so many questions though, some good, some annoying. --- (Acting: 3.25/5) Really aside from Sharlto Copley as Wikus, there weren't any standouts. Sharlto did do a really good job though. --- (Character Quality: 3.75/5) While I feel like some of the decisions made by characters were extremely questionable, Christopher really shined. If I was supposed to like Wikus, it didn't work. --- (Entertainment Value: 3.75/5) It was definitely an entertaining film but there was some fluff that probably didn't need to be there. --- (Expectations vs. Reality: 3/5) Even after watching this fairly recently, it was quite forgettable. Worth a watch if you like unique sci-fi. See more Justin T @RT08580778 Feb 21 Bang in the middle of the shaky camera, found footage era comes this mockumentary. I did find myself questioning how some sequences were filmed (this is where it became a movie and not a documentary) but aside from that it did the job. The alien special effects look great. Everything fits to make this sound like a documentary but professionally mixed to sound like a movie. Not necessarily accurate but it’s a movie afterall. The story is fascinating throughout. It is a personal story and an emotional one. The aliens look cool and are so believable as they are given an identity within society. You really feel for them and pity them. This is very clever storytelling. It’s a really strong story and an emotional one.
