Bruce M @BruceMc Sep 28 Tremendously intense and brutal, a remarkable study in sadism and fear. The four lead actors are all exceptional, but especially noteworthy is Anthony DiBlasi's direction. Cinematography, editing and sound design are also terrific. This is a movie that will stay with the viewer a long time, is incredibly unnerving. Really terrific. See more Valerii Ege D 04/11/2023 It's hard to come across original villains in horror movies. Dread is one of the rare movies that can do that. A character who has a wild and perverted worldview from his own perspective hunts down naive people who don't think like him one by one. The movie could actually have ended with Stephen not getting in the car and saying good-bye. However, the characters are preparing their own endings by not being able to predict the limits of Quaid. Actually, I can draw a very good social society criticism from this movie. Because it is normal for people to approach each other more sincerely and feel safe in countries such as America and England, where civilization is prevalent. However, as someone like me who has lived in countries with low ethics and morals, I can personally understand how dangerous Quaid is from 10 kilometers away. When you don't choose the right person to trust, you have to bear the consequences. See more Al R 12/15/2022 Worst movie I've seen in a while. It wasn't horror, it was sadism. This tells me that the writer has serious mental issues and should be studied himself. Same with the director. I hope the ending wasn't a setup for part 2. The premise that he is tormenting others to alleviate his own pain doesn't work well...and the film itself comes off as a student project. See more 05/27/2021 Unsettling psychological horror. Starts off well as it resonates with real life. It felt genuine and plays on the deep-rooted fears of people. It is not like any usual Hollywood horror but hold the attention with a moderately slow screenplay. The characters are quite interesting and had decent chemistry, It's rare to find horror movies nowadays where you genuinely feel sorry for the characters. There are a few jump scares however, the real scare is the concept behind this, if you really pick up the idea of this whole film it is really unsettling and disturbing. With a low budget it is a brilliant work, the cinematography is cleverly done and each scene is important to the story, the dialogues are good enough and adequate. It was a solid effort all put together but I could not recommend this to the general audience still it holds a strong concept but not for the faint hearts, It showcases human limits and the atmosphere it sets afterwards is really dark.
