RJ May 7, 2025 The original Equalizer film with Denzel was definitely a stunner. I feel like this one was a bit of a step down, but not that far down from the original. Plus what makes it not feel like a sequel is the fact that his hair is grown in, in this film. Unless I’m missing something, it just feels like a continuity error throughout the whole movie and that’s one of the smaller reasons I gave this film one star less. Either way? Denzel Washington carried this film and I still loved it. Especially the hurricane sequence. I like this; it gets kinda messy, but seeing Denzel dish out justice is super satisfying. What Worked: • Denzel’s quiet, intense energy honestly carries the movie for me. • Pascal brings a really compelling, personal betrayal angle. • The final hurricane town showdown is ridiculously creative and wild. The Friction: • The pacing kinda dragged early on with disconnected side quests. • The villains lacked the scary, heavy weight of the first movie. • Some storm CGI looked a bit rubbery and pulled me out of it. Verdict: I like this. Watch for brutal Denzel action. Skip if slow first halves annoy you. See more Moody C @MoodyC Sep 22, 2026 This is the worst of the 3 Equalizer movies but only because final fight is in the middle of a hurricane which not only makes visuals blurry but distracts from the actual fighting. That is a really bad decision to do this & so movie suffers from a lackluster climax. As with all Equalizer movies, though, they all start out really riveting & exiciting as is this one. The action isn’t incredible, but it’s fun enough for me, and there’s even a couple brutal moments, like using a credit card to slice up some bad guys, or example. Now, I’ve seen it many times and feel I was wrong about it. I love all three Equalizer movies, including this one. They are probably my favorite series of movies. Denzel at his best!
