Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. While the identity of the villain knocking off the prom queen candidates is obvious, the sheer uninhibited Road Runner meets Wile E. Coyote excitement of the climax remains delightfully infectious.

There’s a lot of limb-severing and such. But “Fear Street: Prom Queen” never rises above its pedestrian concept, which simply lifts cliches from standard slice-and-dice opuses...without ever figuring just how seriously it wants to take them.

The audio description track here is one of my favorites of the year. Liz Gutman’s writing is flawless, and the description captures every gory detail. While the movie is mixed for me, the description might be the reason I’m leaning positive.

Interesting enough this turned out to be the best in the series. The originals were too focused on checkboxes instead of good acting and on scene chemistry. This one focused more on the event and the kills on a fun way without being forced to endure a director forcing their personal lives into the film.

Granted, the Fear Street franchise is a bit corny, and the silliness is there for all to make them essentially stupid. Yet, the other movies were still fun watches for the unwitting humor it provided; this one had none of that.

Hard watch. And not in like a gorey way, more in a cringey predictable way. I could've just geussed everything in this movie from the first 5 min. Honestly disappointed compared to other fear street movies.
