When they meet in second grade, Juli Baker falls instantly in love with her neighbor, Bryce Loski. Bryce, however, does not feel the spark. From that day forward, he (Callan McAuliffe) tries hard to keep brash and unpredictable Juli (Madeline Carroll) at bay. After six years, she begins to feel that she was wrong about him being the love of her life. Unfortunately, that is just about the time that Bryce begins to think he was wrong about Juli, too.

While not without its nostalgic charms, Rob Reiner's sometimes awkward adaptation of Wendelin Van Draanen's childhood novel doesn't reach the heights of the director's earlier work like Stand By Me.

First encounter in childhood: she was bold, he was shy. Years later at school, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. As they mounded soil around the sapling, their accidental brush of hands sent their hearts fluttering,this was the purest kind of young love

Rest in peace Rob Reiner. Flipped is one of my favourite films of all time. It has brought me comfort and warmth in many hard times. I’ll be rewatching in honour of Rob Reiner tonight.

I really enjoyed this film. A simple, thought provoking and beautiful coming-of-age film. I wish they would make more movies like this. No need for lots of action, love scenes or hyped up drama- this film has all the feels and some wonderful messages. I would like my kids to watch it- it's going to be our next Friday night family movie.

This movie gives the vibe of a movie you’re forced to watch in grade school. I really didn’t like it, but my middle aged mom thought it was sweet. It’s about two kids and the story is completely about crushes. My little sister who is 11 hated it and I 16 hated it too. It was a hard watch to be honest, but if you’re old school you’ll like it.

Synopsis
