Steven G @sgarrett1982 Jan 29 "Ghost Planet" is an inventive, entertaining, complex movie about a family of 3 that ventures to the outer reaches of our galaxy to claim valuable mineral rights (MacGuffin). Along for the ride are an android and some fun wisecracks, with genuine dramatic stakes for each character. I loved the special effects. Hollywood should stop throwing money away and give this guy a shot at something bigger budget -- because he knows how to tell a story. No it's better than Okay - as long as your prepared to forgive the obvious greenscreen effects, cheesy dialogue and treat this as a popcorn movie. The acting is cheesy, but I think it is supposed to be, the plot has some good elements (alien spaceships, borrowed hi-tech, flying cars, double-dealing - nope - make that triple dealing characters). It's fun to pick which bits are greenscreen and which bits are actually built sets, the clothes are a combo of 80's leisure suits and paintball, but it all works in a way that is fun. I'd love to see these guys do a Mega City One film (aka 2000AD comic strip Judge Dredd) as I felt that the big city scenes was the strength of the film - and it struggled a bit on the iron moon and toy vehicles - but overall this was more fun than most overdone hollywood blockbusters. It was kickstarter funded - available to watch free on Tubi - and it's worth twice that ;-) - seriously if you are in the right mood for cheesy sci-fi then this is an okay / good movie option for 1:45 of your time. Written and directed by Philip Cook, this super fun SciFi movie utilizes great CGI to create a fantastical future world. Each frame features dazzling graphics and showcases the filmmaker's wild imagination. The set design is brilliant with incredible details. Joe Mays shines as the lead actor I found him to be charming and memorable. The “blade-runner” like car chase and climatic finale were interesting and enjoyable. As a SciFi indie film, "Ghost Planet" exceeded my expectations, and I found it to be a fun and exciting romp. See more TRAVIS G 02/17/2025 I just watched the movie GHOST PLANET. The movie has a lot of strong scenes that I enjoyed watching and which were very comical. The movie is written & directed by Philip J Cook. This is a cool sci-fi movie which is pretty neat and futuristic to watch. The movie has good dialogue and drama and scenes of friendship and camaraderie. It was also shot in a very cool way with many scenes that take you to the future.. The storyline pulls you in many directions as you're watching this movie. I thought all the lead actors all had great onscreen chemistry– they were great together. The sets are great for an indie movie. I look forward to what this director and filmmaker has coming up next!
