Allie C Apr 24 I have seen this movie no less than 50 times in my life and knew what to expect. I think this movie has its place in time as an art piece to theater and noteworthy history. While not terribly politically correct today, it reminds us of the thinking of the time as well as how hard life was during that time for everyone. I LOVED seeing this on the big screen for the first time in my life, mostly because it reminded me of being very young, allowed to stay up late to see it (Mom's family is from Atlanta Dad went to GA Tech the roots grow thick) but also because it was played in theaters before my time: I was born the day before man landed on the moon. So, I was forced to watch it on a 1970s tv. However, I like that this movie is part of recorded history from one perspective that is still around (one that isn't being banned like books), and maybe not the popular one, but we can learn from watching history and not repeating it. I watched this every year on tv as a child with no VCR. If you were in the bathroom at the wrong time, you missed that famous scene. It must have rerun on every channel as I grew up. I like watching it from my perspective now as compared to then, and I am grateful you would play it on the big screen. This movie is deserving at least once a year. I was still so shocked at the man-handling. I hope this serves as an example of how not to treat women (at least from Rhett's standpoint), while building up the realities of being a woman back then, no matter what your skin color was. All the responsibility of many lives fell on one woman. She more than handled it, and that is what Gone With the Wind is about to me, Scarlett'e strength and stamina. Don't ever let anyone tell you that men were the only ones who fought wars back then. Suffering happened to EVERYONE. Woman were and still are the glue that holds society together, while our strong men protect us. That hasn't changed. Go see the movie. Feel some feels.
