Gunslingers is not the finest hour for any actor involved, though they run the gamut from competency to simply being too modern in look and manner to convince in a period setting that already feels like some sort of western cosplay weekend.

A cheaply made western that paid for Nicolas Cage to play second fiddle to Stephen Dorff of all people, who is doing something with his voice here that makes me concerned for his health. This film had no thought put into it, so I’m just trading in kind.

Too often feels like a reenactment the likes of which you'd find at a "Western" tourist attraction. The dialogue is cliche, the action beats feel rote and repetitive, and the costumes all scream "Rentals should be kept clean and are due back by 6pm!"

Attempted to embody the genre’s classically earlier dedication to reflective social commentary through its campy design, but that doesn’t mean the conception aligned with that smarter idea it only wanted to play an angle through indecisive narration blandly executed – with Cage’s minor role weaving enjoyable humor that outshines the rest. (C-)

Nick Cage was a joke. I feel terrible for Stephen Dorff and other actors that actually put forth an effort. Why work so hard to be period correct and then fail so miserably? Heather Graham seemed like a time traveler from the future, because she failed to act or speak according to the period.

Gunslinger fails on every level. Aside from a passable Stephen Dorff, the acting is laughable—Nicolas Cage in particular—and the absurd script and unbelievable action destroy any chance of suspension of disbelief.

Beautiful cinematography. Cage stays true to his convictions and delivers excellence where a script that should have been left in the garbage gets made. Cage exists to lift up scripts like this. Violence, a love triangle, and CAGE. Movie is the western version of prisoners of the ghostlands. Praise CAGE.
