The layers of symbolism, analogy, and allegory are as tall as the building itself. There is a richly disturbing and dark fascination in observing how all of this frivolity comes crashing down in unpredictable and unlimited disaster.

After reading the book I was anxious to see if the movie could stand up to the book. It didn't. Difficult mission, I know. But... Great actors and great performances but it failed to transmit all the subtle and different stages of violence of the book banalizing it too much.

The story was a little boring and really hard to follow at times. I had a hard time understanding all of the events that were unfolding, so I was not really able to appreciate the whole plot of the movie. Despite its flaws, it was an incredibly well-acted movie, and its depiction of high society, where even the wealthiest vie for the most luxurious life possible, is grim yet realistic. I definitely recommend it for drama fans!

A stylish descent into chaos that’s more concept than connection. By the end, it’s clear the film is making a point about societal decay and inequality - but it’s a point made repeatedly, without much escalation beyond the obvious.
