And kudos to the makeup department, hauntingly beautiful work. It is not a good film and I basically enjoy 95% of the films I watch. The two main actors knock it out the park. They are absolutely brilliant. But the script makes no sense - large sections are completely arbitrary, characters are arbitrary, the lore/rules/whatever you call it don’t add up, and it’s one of these films that just ends as if they ran out of money. If you want to watch two very talented actors try to put lipstick on a pig, it’s worth it. The film is well made - like the cinematography and whatnot (why I gave it two stars instead of one). Honestly, I was invested at first. The idea seemed captivating, a newlywed perfect couple that is the textbook definition of happy going to their old cottage for their honeymoon, and things progressively getting worse. However. This is probably the worst writing I've ever seen, there was much potential in this, a suspenseful buildup to the big plot twist, just for the ending to prove how big of a disappointment this movie is. Paul is supposed to be a terrible partner underneath his "perfect mask" i guess. But if you put yourself in your shoes you start to realize that he's the best partner you could have in this situation. No words can express how shallow this movie is, I honestly feel like my review for this half-baked waste of time is more well written than the movie itself. Don't watch it. You'll regret even bothering to.
