Five years have passed since Hiccup and Toothless united the dragons and Vikings of Berk. Now, they spend their time charting the island's unmapped territories. During one of their adventures, the pair discover a secret cave that houses hundreds of wild dragons -- and a mysterious dragon rider who turns out to be Hiccup's long-lost mother, Valka. Hiccup and Toothless then find themselves at the center of a battle to protect Berk from a power-hungry warrior named Drago.

What Dean DeBlois was able to do with the first How to Train Your Dragon was just incredible and has become big favorite of mine since then. There was some huge expectations for How to Train Your Dragon 2 and boy did Deblois deliver.

Boasting beautiful animation, a great script, wonderful voice talent, and one of the year’s best musical scores, this earns its dragon’s wings buy not only improving on its predecessor, but it makes the first film even better.

I really loved the first movie - there were so many memorable parts! It felt like this one took a bit to warm up to things, and the sense of awe and cuteness didn't quite hit me as much as in the first movie. But still lovable and entertaining!

This film is certainly more action packed than the original, which is both a positive and negative thing. On one hand, this film has some great scenes; and beautiful animation, but on the other; it lacks the rich story of the original. However, that does not mean the story of this film is bad by any means in fact, I would say this is still as good as the original, even if it may not entirely surpass it.

My favorite movie of all time. My grandma and my cousin and I went to see the first movie in theaters when I was 11, and I lost my tooth that night. Still a fond memory of mine. The live action version cannot compare to this beautiful work of art.
