Particularly impressive is the four-legged baddie, a CGI beast who slow-reveals his mightiness, but when his time to enter monster-movie mythology arrives….oh, baby! Go to Full Review

This is hardly the Jaws of killer hippopotamus movies, or even the Anaconda of killer hippopotamus movies—it just goes by the numbers, simply existing in a suspense-free void. Go to Full Review

Very silly... [but] director James Nunn’s choice to play the material almost entirely straight is the film’s salvation. Go to Full Review

Hungry is a 'wild animal on the loose' horror movie that wants to be different because the killer creature is a hippo. However, the story isn't interesting enough and gets stuck in quagmires of clichés. The movie also tries and fails to have campy comedy. Go to Full Review

The novelty of a hippo being a vicious predator soon wears off after the first sighting of the creature, but it's not the worst film of its kind. Go to Full Review

Rob Jun 28 Super fun horror movie about a killer hippo. Not calling this movie “Hungry Hungry” was a huge missed opportunity. See more Eugene A @Asqarman 54m Slightly better than sharks See more Serena R @SRob27 Jul 21 Don’t bother! Dreadful, predictable storyline, lacklustre performances with some dire scenes.Hannah was so annoying! See more Louise T @Louise153 Jul 21 What to say…don’t bother, other than the hippo the cast don’t hold you & storyline is predictable, dull despite trying to be novice & clever. And the cast, a lot of overacting going on by the dark haired actress who played Hannah, got eliminated early on (thank goodness, couldn’t have watched her through the entire movie, just OTT with the acting) See more Lynne K @LizLemon7171 Jul 19 I liked the premise - finally, a different killer beast instead of a gator or shark. It’s not groundbreaking but there are many worse ways to spend 90-ish minutes on a Sunday. See more Lovell T @Lovell Jul 14 A favourite studio recycled swamp horror flick, which does provide some entertaining thrills when the characters, except one, are not terribly annoying, such as in this case.
