After a high-ranking North Korean official requests asylum, KCIA Foreign Unit chief Park Pyong-ho (LEE Jung Jae) and Domestic Unit chief Kim Jung-do (JUNG Woo Sung) are tasked with uncovering a North Korean spy, known as Donglim, who is deeply embedded within their agency. When the spy begins leaking top secret intel that could jeopardize national security, the two units are each assigned to investigate each other. In this tense situation where if they cannot find the mole, they may be accused themselves, Pyong-ho and Jung-do slowly start to uncover the truth. In the end, they must deal with an unthinkable plot to assassinate the South Korean president...

There are some sparks to Lee Jung-jae’s directorial talents, Hunt is bombastically muddled and doesn’t know if it wants the audience to take it seriously or indulge in its explosive subplot-covered demeanor.

The movie was filmed incredibly well with some awesome action and directing, but it was a bit hard to follow the story and understand what was going on.

This espionage period thriller has some exciting elements, and I admire the production values and attention to details of the period. It also delivers some riveting action set-pieces, and the two lead performances by Lee Jung-jae as Park and Jung Woo-sung as Kim are outstanding. That said, the film lack tension, and has way too many twists and turns to be comprehensible. The events also requires an inexplicable negligence and incompetence from the security services in order for the plot to unfold, and not because in real life these lapses are possible. These problems with the plot machinations took away from my engagement with the film. It's still not a bad film, just not as good as I wanted it to be.
