Is this stuff supposed to be funny? These scenes are cut and shot like they're jam-packed with laughs, but our audience was so quiet and uncomfortable, you'd think we were at a rep screening of 'Shoah.'

“I Feel Pretty” centers the ordinary woman, gives her the delusion, adds a dash of The Devil Wears Prada, and depicts her personal aesthetic in the vein of Reese Witherspoon in “Legally Blonde.” The premise feels familiar but is subversive.

“I Feel Pretty” is a movie with a message – a genuinely good message. And we are constantly getting whiffs of it throughout. Unfortunately it’s buried in a tonally challenged film with an glaring identity crisis.

It's hard to explain how awful this movie is, I Feel Pretty is the type of movie that shouldn't even exist because if you try to make lazy jokes, weak gags, plot holes, forgettable acting and a completely insufferable borne out message about being pretty your movie is doomed from the start. Also why is Naomi Campbell in this movie? And this was the same model who appeared in George Michael's music video for "Freedom! '90", Amy Schumer had one lucky shot with "Trainwreck" but then the rest went all the way downhill, because with unfunny comedians like her I'm don't want to watch her terrible comedy specials.

I have avoided Amy Schumer, and with good reason. The acting was horrible. However, the movie had a nice message. A different actress might have made this a higher rated movie.

The movie opens with Renee, a woman in her mid 30s living in NY with low confidence and working in a shoebox office of a major cosmetics company. She attends a spin class where she suffers head trauma and this results in a "new Renee". One that is beautiful & confident - nothing stands in her way. She even gets the big girl job at her company. As her success grows at work, Renee is forced to look at herself in a metaphorical mirrorto realize who she is and always was. The film circles around themes of self worth, feminism, beauty industry standards, societal norms, and friendships. A motif of the film is Soul Cycle (the indoor cycle studio) where Renee's life is "transformed". Later on, Renee returns to the studio to recreate her accident and it's here she realizes her truth self worth. I feel pretty is a quintessential romcom for anyone looking for an upbeat film. Confidence ebbs and flows and is cyclical in life. -Rocky
