As a character drama, a thriller, a study of big vs small, corrupt vs. the little man, this is a triumph. These are not the sort of epic stories about real life, that hold-up well on film. Those that do are generally cautious where they should be bold; silent where they should speak volumes. ‘Insider’ carries a massive voice, with a top billed cast to scream till their lungs get sore. Al Pacino is all but a natural at this, but Russell Crowe offers something we’ve never seen from him before. Rage, yes… but painful, understated distress. ALL OF THIS helmed by a director at the peak of his creative and intellectual prime. Which given his filmography says so damn much! The story moves fast, stays tightly connected, and challenges the viewer with serious questions instead of easy answers. It is very slow pace so it’s not very easy on the eye however, one thing that I did like was the performances of Russell Crowe and Al Pacino they were fantastic. They carried this film aside from that is very informative however, because of the pace it’s hard to keep focus. I suggest maybe a break within half of the movie to not start falling asleep. Overall.
