So here’s the thing: I don’t particularly like Amber Heard. But I do love watching bad movies. So anything that is as polarized as the reviews on Letterboxd makes me curious. Here I am. And yes. Jason Isaacs in a tiny role. “Why can’t I write? I write. I’m a writer.” Just the word “fuck” typed over and over and over again is the most relatable experience in history. … Okay, anyone who didn’t enjoy this movie clearly isn’t a writer. Speaking as a writer who routinely falls in love with my own characters, this is such a triumph of what-the-fuckery. It’s fantastic and I can’t even imagine the impact of that third act reveal. So… yeah. As a regular movie it probably doesn’t make any sense but as a movie written by a writer about the interactions of characters, real life, fiction and the weirdness of inter-author friendships… A+

As far as a femme fatale, Nicola's character is extremely stunning and acts the part with some minor difficulties. I enjoyed the aspect of Billy Bob Thornton's character Samson breaking the fourth wall under the guise of writing a book. Some of the acting is subpar with some rough spots of cinematography. Overall, I really enjoyed the casting, character development, and the plot of the movie.
