This is not the first time a story like this has been told, but it is being told in Magic Hour with real affection and earnestness. Go to Full Review

This is a movie that’s short but still feels padded. Go to Full Review

A crafty reveal does not a clever film make, and even at a merciful 80 minutes, the device eventually feels more tired than the sullen Erin, who soldiers on through her suffering. Go to Full Review

Honest and thoughtful, yet a roadmap of grief that somehow feels incomplete, which is rather the point entirely. Go to Full Review

Sheila T @RT22200522 8h privileged perspective grief fantasy, idea you can escape to the desert, no job or obligations,$$ friends around, and spend your days hanging out in a $$ house, swimming and getting massages. I could def feel the director's priv. I think it might have been interesting if she actually had to work and got to spend time w/ him when they came home, maybe escaping to the desert for parts of it. But still, I enjoyed it for what it was Knowing her love for her husband, M. Duplas, I wonder if this film is her way of processing the fear of losing him and how painful the possibility of that must be. Knowing how publicly they've talked about how intertwined they are (celebrated their codependency) It did a good job of capturing when you first lose someone, how it feels they're still w/ you. hearing what they’d say in response to everything. these private moments you find yourself wondering if they could see them why they’d think& the overwhelm that comes w/ that.. Great music and great acting.
