TAMMY O @Iolaus Jul 11 It’s a charming little movie with no loud soundtrack or explosions. Instead it’s a movie with quiet heartfelt moments of days gone by when the local mom & pop’s movie theater were the place to be in a small town on a Saturday night. It’s a story of a father & son (& community) torn apart by war & society ideology but are found again by their bond of acsamm movie theater. This is NOT your average Jim Carrey movie and a lot of people missed the point of the movie. Give it a shot and watch the the movie. See more Holly W @KCmama5 Jun 2 So enjoyed this movie. Yes, there is a willing suspension of disbelief involved, and it is well worth it. I have purposely avoided most Jim Carrey movies but am so glad I relented on this one. Laurie Holden, Hal Holbrook, stunning photography and awesome costuming, great editing...it's all a lovely blend. It's the one movie the Critics on Rotten Tomatoes have it wrong. This movie has an all star cast and it shows. I liked the communist referendum, and it drives it hard. For those that don't know how those trials went. It was realistic. A war hero or a father that lost his son trying to reclaim a life and a loss. I could happen. The Majestic is my favourite Jim Carrey and Martin Landau movie. Besides the idyllic small town community feel and nostalgic cinema appeal, I happened to be falsely accused and have a court date looming at the time I first saw this film so it’s focus on standing up for what’s right against fear based lies resonated with me deeply as did the rich, romantic comedy stream of the well crafted story.
