When U.S. government operative Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his mentor, Jim Phelps (Jon Voight), go on a covert assignment that takes a disastrous turn, Jim is killed, and Ethan becomes the prime murder suspect. De Palma delivered some great imagery for future filmmakers. Even as the stakes in the film continue to rise and the set pieces become bigger, he never forgets to keep the characters in the forefront of the camera to make the film feel intimate.

Honestly was not the most excited to check this out cause heist films have never been my cup of tea, but this wasn't bad. Was a bit confused on my first watch so I'll have to give it another watch at some point. Nothing really for me to love here, but nothing for me to dislike. Although the stealth scene was edge of your seat stuff.

This movie is such an amazing spectacle. I was not prepared for the awesome action sequences. The scene where Ethan drops and barely gets by without triggering the alarm is iconic for a reason. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The scene early in the movie where all the members of his team are being picked off one by one was very good and was more important to the plot than I thought it would be. The plot is a little convoluted and I got lost a couple of times, but the story is still pretty good. The acting is also really good. Tom Cruise makes for a great action hero and plays the part very well. The final action sequence of the movie was also great. The helicopter in the tunnel was giving me massive Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade vibes. And again, I was on the edge of my seat during that scene too. In summary, if you like action movies, this is one of the best and is definitely worth watching.
