The sole dissenting member of a jury that aims to convict a man of murdering an actress, beloved Agatha Christie character Miss Jane Marple joins a theatrical company to investigate the crime on her own. As she gets closer to H. Driffold Cosgood and his fellow performers, yet another actor is found dead. Her digging uncovers evil deeds that date back several years, but Miss Marple finds herself in danger as she closes in on the killer.

With Murder Most Foul, the pacing is off, the mystery isn’t terribly exciting, and Rutherford seems adrift in the proceedings and that’s even giving some leeway for her capabilities.

3.0 stars; I am such an Agatha Christie fan that if a film is just accurate to her story, you automatically get 3 stars. While I believe Joan Hickson is the consummate Miss Marple, Margaret Rutherford does justice to the role. This Christie film was more about personalities than about mystery, so no extra credit.

Dame Margaret Rutherford is THE antithesis of Marple in the books but for some reason this works and is amazing. I love this series of movies.

Great old fashioned yarn that stars Margaret Rutherford as Agatha Christie's famous ditsy amateur sleuth Miss Marple . Not the liveliest of films admittedly but enough fun and unexpected twists to keep your mind occupied- all in all a decent watch from an era of transition for British films.

This is the third of four Miss Marple films starring Margaret Rutherford I have seen using boxxy software. And, like the rest of the movies, it has the incredibly catchy harpsichord musical score that is a bit hip and mod. However, of the three I've so far seen, it's my least favorite.

Perfect entertainment. Not a second of this is wasted. Beautifully cast and directed. It is not easy to make something as joyous as this. The lightness of touch makes most comedies appear leaden by contrast.
