Solid performances from Tailfeathers and Letexier-Hart can't elevate a script that is neither effective as straight sci-fi nor a subversion of the genre. Go to Full Review

The dystopian sci-fi drama is approached from a fresh perspective in Night Raiders, a deeply-felt parable about the eradication of indigenous North Americans. Go to Full Review

Extremely well-constructed and compelling narrative that uses simple but stylish methods to build a world and tell a story that is unique but easy to understand. This is the kind of commentary we can get when diverse stories are told by creators of color. Go to Full Review

Goulet imbues her film with a social realist bent to explore the lingering trauma of colonialism, and specifically Canada's residential school system, and the Cree peoples’ unwavering resilience. Go to Full Review

Claudio C @Claudio666 Mar 31 Could Have Been a Good Pilot (12,365 – 30 Mar 2026) In 2043, North America is a dystopian society living under a military dictatorship that demands that any children be delivered to the government when he or she is four. Niska and her 11-year-old daughter Waseese have survived for six years living in the forest. But when Waseese steps on a beartrap, Niska heads to the house of her old friend Roberta, who suggests she deliver her daughter to the authorities to have medical care and Niska leaves her daughter behind. Ten months later, Niska lives in a flat and is abducted by a group of Cree that believes she is the guardian and will lead the children to the sanctuary Bigstone. Niska requests Waseese and the Cree go to the academy to bring her. "Night Raiders" (2021) is a movie that could have been a good pilot. The story and details are too long for a feature and after a promising beginning, becomes confusing. My vote is six. Title (Brazil): "Invasores da Noite" ("Night Invaders") See more Ian H @Howellsey Aug 28 Gritty, thought provoking film. Looks at colonisation of land and culture See more Jair K @RT01939899 Jul 24 Starts out intriguing - a bit slow - but turns miserable and nasty and the 'heroine' ends up being an awful enough person to make me sick. They wait until the end of the movie to 'kill the cat', as writers say. There is nothing uplifting unless you are tunnel-vision on the mother-daughter story and it is a very simplistic story without much depth. See more AA A @RT19343387 May 11 I see the main character. Didn't realize what movie I picked to stream. Then I heard cree language. 💖 In my lifetime. A Native American sci-fi movie 🤯💕 Disney can't do justice to put more Native American faces on the big screen. I finally am able to see myself in those characters 💖 until this year, I am finally seeing the vast cultures of Native Americans! I love it! Many will not understand it. I understand. See more Adrian D @RT34193969 10/14/2024 I am surprised by the large number of lukewarm reviews here on Rotten Tomatoes. This film is a absolute gem, and I can understand why Waititi was willing to Exec produce it. Yes, it is slow-paced at times, but this is a forgivable matter. The film's poignant messages about past, future, and present redeem it. For anyone who has spent any time interacting with indigenous US and Canadian folks, from this non-indigienous person who has done so, it seems to mesh well with my understanding of indigenous culture.
