First off I would like to state that the sound/music design paired with the black & white filming is incredible. This film is one that will have you feeling tense, stressed and at unease however through those emotions your brain is understanding the viewpoint of a mathematician going mad over the theory of pi. It’s an incredible film that showcases how a man can be blessed with wisdom but, at what cost? It’s one of those films that should be studied & taught to future generations of aspiring filmmakers. The acting is brilliant, the plot is there the whole time, the black & white contrast paired with the madness within NYC as well as the madness within the mind of the character along with the beautiful soundtrack creates a timeless classic.

This one was right up my alley. Definitely worth a watch if you can find it. The score at the beginning sets the pace being almost as frantic as this movie. It’s nonstop controlled chaos. That’s what the protagonist sees too.

Eh, not my favorite, but it does introduce us to the style of wonderful director Darren Aronofsky. If you saw Requiem first, you'll see that he used the same style in this one.
