While culturally relevant (unfortunately), this movie left me wondering why it was made. It’s a solid movie, don’t get me wrong, but the purpose behind Primetime—beyond themes of evil, self-reflection, ethics and morality—were a bit Lost on me. Overall, I think Pattinson manages to deliver a depth to a character that isn’t quite there in real life, but don’t expect much deeper than that. Years after Chris Hansen helped popularize this style with To Catch a Predator, you can still see how it inspired people all over the internet to create their own versions of catching predators and confronting them on camera. Turning that whole idea into a movie honestly feels strangely perfect for the time we’re living in. With nearly two hours to play with, though, I wish the movie spent more time on those confrontations and really dug into the predators once they were caught. The first one had me thinking that was exactly where the movie was headed, but after that, the questioning started to feel pretty surface-level. Considering those interactions are basically the heart of the whole concept, I wanted them to get more uncomfortable and unpredictable as the movie went on. It felt like they had a great setup without completely squeezing everything they could out of it. I really dug the look of the film, though. Something about those rain-soaked nights, deep shadows, and heavy blue lighting kept giving me flashes of The Batman, which only made me realize how ready I am for Part II to finally get here. Then, when the first predator gets asked, “Who are you?” the comparison was already stuck in my head. For a second I was just waiting for Robert Pattinson to step out of the shadows and hit him with, “I’m Batman.” See more Miguel 5 hrs ago Really well acted, but the movie itself was just okay for me. Robert Pattinson is great, but Skyler Gisondo was probably the biggest surprise and honestly my MVP. The concept surrounding a To Catch a Predator-style show is fascinating, but I don't think the story does enough with it. The first act pulled me in, the middle lost a lot of steam, and the DA storyline finally grabbed me again toward the end. I also wish we'd gotten more aftermath involving Pattinson's character and the show itself instead of ending primarily on Danny's story.
