The Ristuccias are a seemingly happy Italian family. However, when long-gestating aspirations and forgotten passions bubble to the surface, the family's domestic peace is threatened. The father, Carlo (Fabrizio Bentivoglio), is weary of his insurance job and longs to be a writer; his wife, Giulia (Laura Morante), is a literature professor but would rather be an actress. These innocent if secret desires take a turn for the worse when Carlo begins an affair with an old flame (Monica Bellucci).

04/23/2014 I'm Italian and been living in the States for many years. I was curious to see an Italian movie again and so... OMG. Over-acted, frenetic, cliched (I've been to those parties and such and it just brought back such bad, and bored memories). Maybe Italy has become over-acted and a cliche'..... Unsufferable. It has some exiting serges into light from bleak understanding of monogomy and the accptance this kind of chemistry cant be re-expierienced or not just given the right space, a lot of years together with family demands can cloud this and some fantasising is necessary because this never happens ...right.
