For the Tibetan mastiffs on Snow Mountain, a dog's life has a simple riff -- guard a peaceful village of sheep from the thuggish wolf Linnux and his rabid pack. To avoid distractions, mastiff leader Khampa forbids all music. However, when his son Bodi discovers a radio that fell from the sky, it takes just a few guitar licks for the lad's fate to be sealed. Wanting to be a rock 'n' roll star, Bodi heads to the city to locate Angus Scattergood, a legendary musician who needs to write a new song.

Rock Dog is amiable enough, but its second-tier animation and uninspired story add up to a movie whose meager charms are likely to escape all but the youngest and least demanding viewers.

Rock Dog is a pretty "meh" animated film that follows a dog who dreams of becoming a rock musician. The premise is simple and familiar, and while it has a few entertaining moments, it doesn’t really do anything especially new or memorable with its story. The animation is decent and the music-driven concept has potential, but the overall execution feels fairly standard and predictable. It’s the kind of movie that’s easy to watch once, but just as easy to forget afterward. I know it’s based on the Chinese graphic novel Tibetan Rock Dog by Zheng Jun (which I haven’t read), but the adaptation doesn’t quite stand out on its own. Overall, it’s not bad, just average—hence a solid 5/10.

Rock dog is a very underrated movie and for me is the best animated movie of all time. Rock dog has an amazing voice cast with J,K Simmons as Kampa and even includes The Voice. This movie did not make nearly enough money so it is important the we support it. While the animation is not that great the story ark is very fulfilling and truthful. I believe it truly reflects important lessons in life and I think you should give it a try. Also the sound track is amazing. The other thing I love about rock dog is all the family comedy and fun, rock dog also has so many plot lines that all get resolved and in a great way. If you want to see the true hi lights and best parts of this movie I recommend watching the short video about why they made this movie in the first,place. So please go watch rock dog.

Rock Dog is such an underrated movie. It has the perfect voice cast, including Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard, and J. K. Simmons. It also has a really catchy soundtrack.
