There is a true story about this sociopath, but it's bleak and sad and exploitative. This is flash and good looking and empty. It also makes no sense that an intelligent professional as portrayed by the lawyer in this film would fall for his shtick. The real victims of Freegard were young and impressionable or women in love with him and his lies.
