The Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell director is celebrated for his command of gore, yet the gallons of blood and vomit he pours into three fitful scenes here feel gratuitous – an attempt to up the laughs and gasps when the film seems desperate for them.

Send Help doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. It’s a fun, grisly, crowd-pleasing horror movie, which is exactly the kind of Friday-night gore fest that feels oddly comforting when winter refuses to let go.

Sam Raimi is a gifted filmmaker, and this is a good film, aided by a powerful performance by Rachel McAdams. The screenplay has plenty of good plot twists and surprises. It is a bloody good time.

Overall the movie wasn’t bad. It was interesting and definitely different. I’d never consider it horror or much of a thriller though. More like a dark comedy. Had some cool scenes. The special effects weren’t great. It’s worth a watch once. The main suspense didn’t happen until closer to the end but overall it wasn’t a bad film.
