Critics Consensus

Silent Hill is visually impressive, but as with many video game adaptations, it's plagued by inane dialogue, a muddled plot, and an overlong runtime.

Where this movie shines is in its disturbing imagery, its very creepy visuals, and the stunning production design. Go to Full Review

Silent Hill starts out at point A and then goes so quickly, loudly and visually over-the-top that it flies completely off the rails into its own glorious weirdness. Go to Full Review

Unfortunately, the writing and acting is distractingly bad at times. Honestly, it felt like they spent all the budget on the production design, and then midway realized they never bothered with a script. Go to Full Review

Christophe Gans’ film remains an undeniably visceral and terrifying film, immersing the audience in a uniquely nightmarish world that runs on its own perverse dream logic. Go to Full Review

brodie s @Bear103838 1d Terrible from the beginning to end 😭☹️ See more Jesse S. @AquaLeaderJesse 1d Even if it's not a faithful adaptation, it's still the best video game film of the 2000s. See more Chris S @TheRaven8386 4d This movie is incredibly underrated. Like many videogame adaptations there were changes, but they worked and the actors did their jobs well. By far the best part of the movie is the music and the atmosphere. Those 2 things were completely faithful to the Silent Hill Franchise. Sadly there hasn't been one as good as this since. See more Andrew @UNKNOWNGLINT 6d Best of any of the Silent Hill adaptations. The acting is great, the story is great, the cgi is great, the setting is great, I could go on. I would highly recommend this film. See more Ryan C @TheSeanCarneyTribune Jan 29 I wanted to like it so bad but the plot is a scattered mess. The script makes it so hard for the actors to showcase any sorts of their talent. The constant screaming from Rose and unevenly loud background noise comes from poorly done editing. It starts to become undeniably piercing on the ears. The only thing I will give this film is how well the creatures are displayed in this film. Overall 5.5/10 See more Brian @Brimax Jan 28 Esta película es 10 veces mejor que la película llamada "El mono" El cual Rotten le dio una puntuación de 77% asi que les dejo a su criterio como califica Rotten Tomatoes See more Read all reviews
