When lively lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier (Whoopi Goldberg) sees her mobster beau, Vince LaRocca (Harvey Keitel), commit murder, she is relocated for her protection. Set up in the guise of a nun in a California convent, Deloris proceeds to upend the quiet lives of the resident sisters. In an effort to keep her out of trouble, they assign Deloris to the convent's choir, an ensemble that she soon turns into a vibrant and soulful act that gains widespread attention.

It's all pretty predictable, and if there was time you might get pissed off at the ridiculousness of it all. But things move at such a quickened pace, and the comedic timing of all involved is impressive enough to override the structural flaws.

Oh boy. Where do I begin? "Sister Act" is about a Reno lounge singer who witnessed a mob murder and now is forced to hide out in a convent. She initially butts heads with the Reverend Mother, but she teaches the choir how to sing. Whoopi Goldberg's Dolores Van Cartier/Sister Mary Clarence is hilarious and witty. The perfect foil to Dame Maggie Smith's no nonsense Reverend Mother. The cast also includes Harvey Keitel as the villainous mob boss Vince LaRocha, Kathy Najimi as the jolly Sister Mary Patrick and Wendy Makkena as the shy and meek Sister Mary Robert. The film is filled with infectious musical numbers including a rousing rendition of "Hail Holy Queen (Oh Maria)", "My God ('My Guy' 😂😂😂)" and "I Will Follow Him." Full of pratfalls, hijinks and positive energy I highly recommend this comedy.

One of the best movies of the nineties and it still plays well today. This fun and entertaining little film, is not only respectful towards religion, but it's also good for everyone!!! Minor content warning and it definitely earns it's rating, but otherwise solid film, and I still like it!!!

Sister Act is an amazing classic. It has an amazing storyline. In the movie itself, there is great humor, a great storyline, that are very well woven and balanced with a serious storyline. There are very charming characters as well as good music and good settings. This movie is one that is very underrated, with little to no cursing in it. I would recommend this movie for anyone who is interested.
