The look of Some Velvet Morning remains clean and flat, the decor [is] mostly hotel-room neutral. The major visual idea is to have Eve's red dress and lipstick stand out against a monochromatic backdrop: effective in itself, but not enough.

Though LaBute wrote this for the screen, I mistakenly decided that it must have originated onstage... because the oblique, heavily freighted dialogue seems too elegant and artful for a medium dominated by hacks.

Perfect acting! Some movies are left to be unseen by everyone because of the too complicated conversations and the slow development of the story. But if you are connoisseur you will like the movie.

I saw this on the airplane as a Tribeca Film Festival selection, having never heard of it. I found it powerful, disturbing, intriguing and thought-provoking. I understand the criticisms, but disagree with them. I've already recommended it to friends - with the caveat that it is not for everyone.
