Occasionally muddled though it may be, She’s Funny That Way has an appealing cast and blithe spirit, even if the experience is somehow frustrating because we can see that Bogdanovich is oh-so-close to a very good film.

Most people no longer understand what a screwball comedy means. This insane plot is a perfect example of the genre. Very entertaining.

For what it was trying to be, it was fine. For being a comedy it was quite disappointing how unfunny it was. That scene where Albert (Owen Wilson’s character) was on the phone with the escort service AND his family at the same time is a new kind of evil. I did like the premise a lot, just wish the film was made by someone else. Still, this is the kind of movie you put on as background noise while you do work or whatever. 2/5 stars.
