Two stories intertwined make this movie entertaining enough to stay through some of the end credits (a nice little scene during the end title crawl). The movie has all the beats, and at least for me, never flatlines. Russell does his usual good self and the supporting cast are good. Original, no, but what is? Give it a go you may just like it. Aaron Paul's character is just dumb, and Nina Dobrev adds some Point Break comedy that puts this movie in the trash bin. It didn’t deliver the kind of story I expected, and Russell Crowe’s character felt like he was constantly going in different directions. At times, it seemed like the movie wanted to become a comedy while also trying to follow another path, and those sides never came together. The screenplay felt inconsistent, and the acting had the same problem. Everyone seemed disjointed from one another instead of feeling like they were part of the same story. I kept trying to follow what the movie was actually trying to say, but it became difficult to stay focused because nothing felt connected. Ultimately, The Get Out is one of those struggling movies that I really can’t recommend. If you’re doing something around the house and need background noise, maybe it can fill that space, but it never gave me enough reason to watch it. For me, this was a movie that didn’t come together.
