At the same time it was a breathtaking travelogue of San Francisco, so that was something. But otherwise, the movie had no redeeming qualities—but at least I fully expected that. That doesn't mean you won't enjoy it. No sirree. Compared to, say, the brazen incompetence of Nolan's The Odyssey, which masquerades as genius, whilst boring the pants off its audience, Tommy Wiseau's car crash of a movie has abundant fascination. As a midnight movie in LA it was riotous fun for the audience, and watching it at home one can only keep pondering its many unfathomable mysteries. How far did the finished film depart from the auteur's original intention? What was his vision for this movie? Was it meant to be a puzzle, a mystery, an enigma? Just what planet is Johnny coming from? Are the love scenes multiple or are Johnny and Lisa trapped in some kind of eternal recurrence? Who are that other couple? What's with the spoons? Who is that strange boy? Why do they play football in tuxedos? Is The Room just a nightmare? What if we reedit it? See more Read all reviews
