Claudio C @Claudio666 Nov 21 The Room (2019) The Wishes Room (12,076 – 20 Nov 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) The translator Kate (Olga Kurylenko) and her husband, the painter Matt (Kevin Janssens), move from New York to a huge and isolated old house Upstate New York. While renovating the walls, Matt finds a hidden door to a secret room and he learns that the place is a "wishes room", materializing any wish made inside. Meanwhile there are power surges in the house, and they call the electrical company. The technician finds an old and weird electric installation and mentions that the previous owners were killed in the house. Matt researches and finds the name of the killer, "John Doe" (John Flanders), who has been inmate in a mental institution for forty-five years. But Kate wishes a baby to the room and receives the baby Shane, against the will of Matt. He takes some money and secretly travels to the institution to meet John Doe. He learns some secrets about the room and the advice to leave the house from John Doe. In his way back home, he discovers that the money he brought became dust outside the house. Soon he learns that everything granted by the room only exists inside the house. But Olga has a baby now. "The Room" (2019) is a surprisingly great European movie by Christian Volckman in the style of Twilight Zone. The mysterious plot is based on a room that grants any wish made inside. The problem is that the protagonists discover they only exist inside the house. The dilemma is that the woman, Kate, asked for a baby to the room since she lost the two first one. The story is well-developed, and the conclusion is excellent, with pregnant Kate having doubts about the father and the lamp blinking. My vote is seven. While performances are convincing and the premise holds strong potential, sudden emotional shifts and unexplained backstories weaken the narrative’s depth. Several plot holes and illogical choices—especially in the film’s climax—diminish the impact of what could have been a powerful psychological thriller. Really, really, original story. Well acted. Olga was great and why I checked it out. It started strange and you kinda wondered where it was going and then a whole bunch of zingers come flying at you until the end. An easy addition for any collection and one of the best movies I have watched recently that I knew nothing of, most are disappointing. The idea of this magical room inside your house fills those watching around you with questions and desires on what they would do and how does it work which is great. It's quite a unique concept. The reason I have rated it 2 stars however, is because it was very hard to watch two individuals (who are meant to be adults) make such poor decisions. The beginning of the movie started out relatively promising however, the bad decisions quickly started...and when they were done making bad decisions they started making delusional ones instead. So quite often I had my hand on my head looking down in frustration at how anyone would think "THIS" is what I'm going to do. It would of been far far better if the roles and actors were geared towards teenage couple stumbling across this room as you would expect most of what happened in the movie to be done by lessor intelligent and/or immature people but not two fully grown adults. Overall, I would say it is worth watching because it isn't "Bad" but bewarned, you will be screaming at the screen soon into it. See more Craig B @Boundsy 11/27/2024 Excellent and intriguing movie.
