Though he began in stand-up comedy, Andre Allen (Chris Rock) hit the big-time as the star of a trilogy of action-comedies about a talking bear. Andre is forced to spend the day with Chelsea (Rosario Dawson) a profile writer for the New York Times, whose film critic has just panned Andre's passion project about the Haitian Revolution. Unexpectedly, Andre opens up to Chelsea, and as they wind their way across New York, Andre tries to get back in touch with his comedic roots.

Rock and Dawson spark in long, uncut scenes of dialogue that echo Before Midnight. Flirting and sparring throughout the film, they are at the heart of the story but Rock has populated the movie with other interesting characters and cameos.

Great movie. Don't listen to the few in the pop meter who didn't get it. It's funny, touches on tropes of black americans, was well written and paced. I liked everything about the movie and totally enjoyed it. That being said= I don't love Chris Rock. I think he funny but he's not one of my favorite comedians. This was good cinema though and I give credit when it's deserved. Rosario is great too, she should be doing way more movies than she does and she should also be producing my children.

The plot is often forced and seems unnecessary, especially since the film is at it's best during the rambling conversations between Rock and Dawson (or anyone else for that matter).
