After a flight back home, Sam Hendrix returns with a doll he innocently acquired along the way. As it turns out, the doll is actually stuffed with heroin, and a group of criminals led by the ruthless Roat has followed Hendrix back to his place to retrieve it. When Hendrix leaves for business, the crooks make their move -- and find his blind wife, Susy, alone in the apartment. Soon, a life-threatening game begins between Susy and the thugs.

Audrey Hepburn may have "cripped" up for her Oscar nominated role, but Suzy is still a great character. I can't understand the hype around her acting in this movie, it literally drags the movie down for me. Every scene is riveting and intense, and then there's Hepburn giving a sigh, and a cry, every ten minutes, just like in any B grade film noir from the 1930s-60s. Like is sighing and bellowing considered outstanding acting? If anything Arkin and Crenna kept the movie afloat, along with the outstanding plot, cinematography, and soundtrack. Hepburn's soapy performance kind of killed the movie for me.
