Robert H @Rwhobbs198 22 hrs ago War Machine caught me completely off guard. I went in knowing almost nothing beyond the title and assumed it would simply be a war movie. Instead, the story expands far beyond a grieving brother trying to earn his Ranger scroll in honor of a promise made to his brother who died in combat. The introduction of the otherworldly War Machine could have easily pushed the movie into ridiculous territory, but it surprisingly works. The story is strong, the score adds real emotion, the performances are excellent, and the special effects look fantastic without becoming excessive. What I liked most was how believable the sci-fi elements felt, especially the idea of humanity eventually being forced to unite against an outside threat. A surprisingly emotional and effective sci-fi war movie. I’d absolutely watch a sequel and see this invasion play out on a much larger scale. The main character having a beard during RASP…the cadre carrying live .50 ammo and HE rounds during the culminating training event…E-5 and 6s that look 50 years old…candidates in Ranger Assessment hand carrying morphine. BIG ALAN RITCHSON, who has made a career playing Big JACK REACHER on AMAZON, was, FINALLY, after attending enuff EYES WIDE SHUT Parties getting his chance to be the STAR of a MAJOR movie. He is mostly MUSCLES...THICK NECK. Butt can he ACT?? The JURY is still out. The movie, of course, was about a WAR MACHINE or a SUPED Up version of ROBOCOP said to be some sorta Outerspace Alien Lifeform. Cardboard characters straight outta Central Casting: THE TRANS AMBIGUOUS SOLDIER aka #44 (Alex King). THE DOUBTING JEALOUS SOLDIER aka #15. THE LONE BLACK MAN (Stephen James), who gits carried around on a cot most of the movie. RITCHSON gets to be THE LONE HERO....insert (trope) reason that drive him here which included a promise to his (trope) Dead Brother (Jai Courtney). This coulda been named ROBOCOP: THE WAR MACHINE.
