Michael C @RT48627533 May 30 What a gigantic waste of an interesting premise. It's like the writers went out of their way to not explain anything that was happening. Why is Kara upset at the other two? Why did they need to shave their heads? Where do the worms come from? Why isn't the rest of the country intervening? This and many more questions go unanswered throughout the entire 1hr45m runtime. Is Jess some doctor that is researching the disease? Who knows, the movie certainly doesn't tell you. I can forgive the bad acting, and the inconsistent Amish accents, but I'll never forgive bad story telling. Don't waste your time like I did. See more Claudio C @Claudio666 May 28 A Movie with Layers (12,473–27 May 2026) In Ashland, Ohio, Major Joshua leads the town infected by worms that control the mind of the residents and die in the sunlight. Jess, Rose and Kara are not infected, and Jess seeks a cure. When Rose finds the teenager Tommy dead on the street by the sun, she collects samples and his mother Alice scares her from home. Kara walks during the night and is captured by a ranger. Alice invites her to join their community and Kara betrays Jess and Rose. "Wormtown" (2025) is a horror movie that has layers. The first one is of a city infected by worms that force people to follow the instructions of Major Joshua. However, there is a political metaphor of extremism, social control and collapse of democracy and the residents having herd mentality. The worm infection would be representation of how extremist ideologies wipe out individuality. The cult led by Mayor Joshua represents the political power and fanaticism. My vote is six. Title (Brazil): "Wormtown" See more Hei Det E @loOn___ Feb 24 As someone who's seen (probably) between 3- to 4000 horror movies; I've literally seen it ALL. Until I saw Wormtown. Aside from quite morbid and downright nasty spectacles (albeit in decent moderation), it weaves a quite distinct web of ideas; of which I must admit I actually pondered in playful dread, as I was laying in bed. --/Slight Spoilers ahead/- The -implications- of this specific concept* is what gets to me (*A mind-virus in a distinct physical form). It's a collective consciousness, almost like mix between a network of fungi and a specific colony of ants; But these are WORMS. They burrow into your mind, multiply in your body, rots you from the inside and plants a seed in your mind. This seed corrupts all it touches. The horrifying thing is that all these worms are just the physical manifestation of a single greater entity. Terrifying. Absolutely LOVED this movie. I want more movies like this.
