Going upstate for a short romantic getaway to escape the pandemic in New York City, food critic June's (Katie Holmes) plans go wrong from the start. Arriving at the AirBnb in advance of her boyfriend, John (Derek Luke), she is shocked to discover it has been double-booked by recently single Charlie (Jim Sturgess). When John decides to stay in the city to take care of his parents, June has to settle in for the long haul as she realizes that the initial two weeks of the pandemic might just drag on a little bit longer than expected. As spring begins to unfold around them, June and Charlie make the most of the sudden break in their routines and develop an unexpected intimacy as they bond over their goals, ambitions and, of course, relationships.

Director Katie Holmes takes an appealingly low-key approach to her story, but it isn't enough to offset Alone Together's bland characters and overall predictability.

While the story was predictable and somewhat accurate to what happened in the first months of the pandemic, i found it very hard to believe that Katie Holmes was actually a younger person. She’s aged significantly since her Dawsons days and really couldn’t pull off playing a 30 something as i assumed she was trying to do. It wasn’t a great masterpiece but was enjoyable enough for a early Saturday morning watch when I was procrastinating housework

Easy, enjoyable watch for a weeknight or rainy Sunday movie. Predictable? Maybe, but in a comforting way and very reminiscent of early pandemic times. Endearing and simple in the best way.

Badly written, badly directed, one sentence plot, vanity project with 90% of the movie being close-ups of Katie Holmes making cute faces. I will say that Suri Cruise has a beautiful voice. Her version of Blue Moon is the one good thing about the movie but she's done in the first 2 minutes.

It's a nice romance movie and a good illustration of the need for human contact. But a little too soon from Covid! And a poor example of what most people good do. Holmes characters are pretty out of touch and extremely privileged living in an alternate sheltered reality. Not a good example of what actually happened for the majority of Americans.
